Beer Bread

Clint Smith received this recipe from Cynthia’s cousin, Joanna Meyers, in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Ingredients

3 cups self-rising flour
3 Tbsp sugar
1 (12 oz) can beer
1 cup butter, melted (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Lightly grease or spray a 9 × 5 × 3-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Combine flour, sugar and beer and mix well.
Pour into the prepared loaf pan.
Pour melted butter over the bread dough, if desired.
Bake for 1 hour.

Family Notes

To replace the self-rising flour, use 3 cups all-purpose flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder and 1½ teaspoons salt.
