About Me

 My name Is Payden Montonya. I'm the owner of Smalltown Connetchin. Here's a little about me.

My Youth

I was a farm kid in Conrath Wisconsin, a rural area. My grandpa taught me a lot about hard work. He owned the farmhouse where my family lived. Our backyard was 150 acres, so my imagination had plenty of room to grow. I went to school at Flambeau K-12 in Tony, Wisconsin. I got along with mostly everyone while doing my best to learn and have fun. In high school, I explored manufacturing and woodworking electives extensively and was introduced to a C02 laser engraving machine. We made a lot of cool items using glass, acrylic, wood and many other materials. The science and process involved kept me intrigued. The possibilities seemed endless, as they still seem to this day. After high school I kept a spot in my heart dedicated to starting my own business and still have some of the creations I made to this day.

I spent my young adult years learning about life, mistakes, and ownership the hard way to say the least. I realized that idle hands and a lazy mind will get you in trouble. I started working full time in 2013 and have been employed at a large industrial corporation for 10 years now as a Logistics Training Specialist. My job includes safety coordination, process documentation, and leadership. I also train employees to use industrial lift trucks and the inventory control system.

The Leap of Faith

One day while thinking about investing in a laser, I thought of Smalltown Connetchin as a business name. My determination took off like an airplane. I registered the business almost immediately and purchased my first laser engraver in 2020, then upgraded to a better machine in 2022.

Owning It

The first couple of years were dedicated to learning the new technology, software, and business essentials as I created custom products for friends and family. Since then, I’ve expanded my customer base, resources, and knowledge to continue creating new products every day. In late 2024, I made the decision to re-organize as an LLC (from a sole proprietor) as we continue to grow. Now we are here to make your ideas come to life, whether it’s a trend, core memory, or just something completely spontaneous. We aspire to create one-of-a-kind projects for you to gift or cherish!

What We Offer

We create custom products for personal, commercial, or industrial needs! We’ll help you customize gifts, brand promotional items, or create intricate designs on wood, painted metals, glass, acrylic, etc. Our purpose is to stay busy and help you create the perfect custom décor, signs, awards, tumblers, leather patch hats, clocks, glassware, and so much more. The precision of the laser even makes it easy to develop L.E.D. backlit projects! Whether it’s weddings, birthdays, seasonal ideas, or holidays to name a few… the possibilities are truly endless.
